Eid Al Adha 2024 Date: When Will Bakra Eid Be Celebrated in India? Saudi Arabia Calls Muslims To Sight Dhu Al Hijjah Crescent Moon

Eid Al Adha, also known as Bakra Eid is one of the most important festivals in Islam. It is marked every year to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s test of faith. It is amongst the two holiest Eids celebrated by Muslims across the world. The ritual include offering special prayers in mosques and slaughtering livestock such as goats and sheep.

Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on all Muslims across the Kingdom to participate in the sighting of the crescent moon of the Arabic month Dhu Al Hijjah today evening.

In a statement, the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said,”The Supreme Court wishes all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to investigate the sighting of the crescent of the month of Dhul-Hijjah on the evening of Thursday 11/29/1445 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 6/6/2024 AD.”

Eid Al Adha falls on the 10th of Dhu Al Hijjah. If the Moon is spotted on June 6: Dhul Hijjah begins on June 7. Arafah Day is on June 15 (Dhul Hijjah 9) and Eid Al Adha on June 16 (Dhul Hijjah 10).

If the Moon is not spotted on June 6: Dhul Hijjah begins on June 8. Arafah Day is on June 16 (Dhul Hijjah 9). Eid Al Adha then is on June 17 (Dhul Hijjah 10).

The second day of the Hajj pilgrimage is marked by the Arafat Day, the Islamic holiday falls on the ninth day of the Islamic month of Dhuʻl-Hijjah.Following, Arafat Day, Muslims across the world mark Eid Al Adha. The occasion is marked on the 10th day of Dhuʻl-Hijjah.

It’s a time for sharing a meal with family, friends and those who are less fortunate.
