As the moon of Zilqad graces the sky, anticipation for Eid ul Adha 2024 begins to build. The exact date, however, remains a celestial secret, to revealed with the sighting of the Zilhajj moon.

The MET office provides two possible scenarios based on the lunar cycle. If Zilqad, the current month in Pakistan, concludes after 29 days, the Zilhajj moon will make its debut on June 8, paving the way for Eidul Adha celebrations on June 17.

Alternatively, if Zilqad extends to 30 days, Zilhajj will commence on June 9, shifting Eidul Adha to June 18. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the formal announcement after the Zilhajj moon is sighted.

Eidul Adha, also revered as the Feast of Sacrifice, one of the two significant Eid festivals observed by Muslims worldwide. It honors Prophet Ibrahim’s profound faith and his readiness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

This festival traditionally marked by the sacrificial slaughter of animals. The meat then distributed among family and the less fortunate, symbolizing communal harmony and charity.

The act of sacrifice, a tribute to Prophet Ibrahim’s tradition, spans over the three days of Eid, reflecting the enduring spirit of devotion and generosity that characterizes this auspicious occasion.
