How many holiday to expect
Pakistanis can look forward to extended holidays this Eidul Adha, as the government is expected to announce a longer break.
According to the official 2024 holiday calendar, the Eidul Adha holidays are scheduled from June 17 (Monday) to June 19 (Wednesday).
However, the final decision will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on the sighting of the moon.
The official holidays are from June 17th to June 19th, but the break effectively starts on June 15th since government offices are typically closed on Saturdays and Sundays. This means that people can enjoy five consecutive days off.
Eidul Azha, also known as Bakra Eid or Qurbani Eid, is a significant Islamic festival that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) unwavering obedience to Allah SWT.
This sacred event highlights the values of faith, sacrifice, and compassion central to Islamic teachings.
The day begins with congregational prayers at mosques, where believers gather to seek blessings and divine guidance.
Following the prayers, Muslims perform Qurbani, the sacrificial offering, reflecting Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) profound devotion.
The meat from the sacrifice is distributed among family members, friends, and the less fortunate, embodying the spirit of sharing and generosity.
This extended holiday period allows families to come together and celebrate this important festival with joy and unity.
